Nav V26.09A (Beta with Perspective View)

This evening, once again thanks to Appy, I got my hands on a "patch" to the V26 operating system for the MkIV Nav Drive. This is NOT a complete reload of the OS, rather it a beta release of software that will take an existing version of V26 and patch it to version V26.09A. You MUST already be on V26 for this to work, and this only applies to a MkIV nav drive.

See http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...-released.html for details on loading the V26 OS. The procedures for burning and loading the V26.09A patch are identical.

Here are pictures of the load in my X5. With this new release you have an additional viewing menu option called "Perspective". That puts you into this new mode. Performance wise, it seems to be pretty responsive. Note that as far as I can tell this mode only seems to support direction of travel views (my preference is to have it in pointing north mode).

Note that it says loading version 0.0

Still showing version 0.0

Splash screen after loading the new OS

Settings screen. Note that it shows version as T26.09A and I assume the date of the beta release (pretty current )

New viewing option called "Perspective"

Perspective mode in split screen

Full screen in Perspective mode

2.5 mile range in Perspective mode

Identified issues/bugs/things to consider:
  • Some people have reported losing the Aux Ventilation option on the nav menu. This seems to be more of an issue with the e53 (X5) then other models.
  • Loading this beta release appears to put the nav drive into Euro mode (no accept screen, units in yards rather than feet)
  • The Emergency option may disappear from the nav menu
  • Splash Screen shows "T26.09A" rather than "== BMW =="
  • Minor street names may not show up when in Perspective mode
  • Thread on other possible issues - http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...countered.html
OK, here's a download link. I must warn you that this is a BETA release, and if you choose to download and install this then you do so with full recognition that neither I nor X5world/X3world can be held responsible for any problems you may encounter with your nav system. I have been told that you can go back to V26 by doing a software reload, but have not confirmed this.

You will note that the download is only a 37 Meg zip file. Again, this is because this is just a patch to an existing V26 install and does not contain the V26 update itself. Only load this after your MkIV has already been updated to V26.

The link for the download can be found here (you must be logged into the site to access this page) - http://www.xoutpost.com/navos.html

and enjoy!!
