Nav recode to fix Arrival Time
The only problem I have is that the Arrival time seems wrong. The Arrival time can vary by up to x3. I know this is a 'known' problem and I expected this to be fixed with a 'recode', so as I was in the dealers I asked them to recode...to which they said recode what...I explained the car thought it was a 7er, seen through the hidden menu. This seemed to confuse the dealer and they started quoting silly money to repair it.... Is there any more clues I can throw my dealer on what 'recoding' is required to fix the problem. Any help much appreciated. Rgds Last edited by Roscoe; 09-27-2006 at 02:18 PM. |

I've had exactly the same discussion with my dealer here in Poland.
My X5 hasn't been recoded till now. Regards |

Tell them they need to attach it to DIS (the coding and diagnostic computer) and run through the process that they would do if they installed a new/replacement Navicomp in a customers vehicle.
Having said that, my dealer wanted to charge 1hr labour for doing it on my E46 so I basically lived with it not being coded correctly - but then I didn't have the issue of arrival times. I wonder if its something to do with the wheel sizes on the X series being so different to that of a 7er (which is what it defailts to when you downgrade)? |

I had this issue and it completely screwed the routing on my NAV. I have a later BM54 with dynamic routing which uses journey times + traffic to calculate the best route. When the arrival times are wrong, the whole thing is pretty useless.
I don't think it is down to the wheel sizes. When mine was faulty it would basically calculate the whole journey time based on your current speed, with no consideration for other road speeds on your journey. For example, if I had a journey from Leeds to London, and started on an A or B road, the journey time would be 8 hours (double the actual time). When you get on the motorway and are lucky enough to reach a decent speed the journey time will drop to about 3 hours. Very frustrating. I took it into the dealer and they just recoded it for free and the problem went away. My journey times are now accurate to a few minutes. They also apply the latest firmware upgrades for free. |
