Angry Big problem with my navigation - it failed - please help

Hey dudes! I just need your help like the air now. Look what is the problem :

I own a e46 2001 model - 330xd - with MKIII navigation and had a SW3-2/40 upgrade (yes, 2/40 not 1/40 - I checked twice) - with small navigation screen. This is the one without a map but with directions... u know.

Recently I saw on Internet a possibility to upgrade my firmware in order to be able to gain other advantages from my Navigation System. Searched for a day, documented a little and decided to download the v27 available. Downloaded, extracted and transformed the mdf to iso with MagicIso in order to burn the image with Nero. Unfortunately my SamsungDVD-RW does not support speeds lower than 8x so.. 8x was the only slow and safe(?) option. Then I want to the car, set the key to position 1 and introduced the CD in the navigation trap. Waited for about 5 minutes because the screen appeared somewhat like : "The CD is loading, please wait". I waited more and started to panic because it remained at this position. Saying that I have nothing to lose at this step, decided to go and take the CD from the back. After 3-4 pushes on the button, the CD went out, but my board-display was still saying : "The CD is loading, please wait". At this step... this was driving me insane. I decided to put a navigation CD with Central-Europe from 2005 inside and see what was going to happen. I was hoping for a stop of the system or something like that. But things got worse. The screen remained at the same position.
I thought that if I pull the car key out and introduce it again things will get better, but no. I started the engine and on my navdisplay I saw again "The CD is loading, please wait". At this point I couldn't remove my Central-Europe CD from the back of my car even if I pressed for a long time. So I have a CD stuck in my Nav and also a displaying text on my display - "The CD is loading, please wait".

Decided to wait a little for the things to settle and went back to my car in 30 Min's. When I started the engine the display menu was without that loading screen, but with the regular menu, without Navigation . I hadn't my fuel consumption averages, my speed averages, just the hour and the outside temperature and the CD was still stuck in the navigation and it tries continuously when the car runs to search for the good CD and makes strange noises.

Sorry for my grammar mistakes and if I wasn't so clear and I beg you for your help, because in about two weeks I'll go in my holiday and I really need my Navigation and I've got no time for going to my local service center. Hoping for an answer from you guys. Thank you very much in advance.

I think you shot the OS on the nav computer with a wrong/bad CD-R.

You have to reset, or buy a new one. A reset is possible here in germany (outside germany, i don't know), but take up to 4 weeks and is around 80 Euro (~110 $).

Hi Facelift,
I noticed that you are in Germany so I would like to ask you a question. My 2005 3.0d is going for some warranty repairs tomorrow and I wonder if I could have my OS upggraded to the newest one for free as the car is still on warranty? Or will they try to charge me for it?

Most of the BMW Garages should update for free. It take about 5 minutes...

Hi Chacky88,

I bought a MKIV radio nav by accident about a year ago. I don't know how to test it with my color nav. Maybe we should keep in touch and maybe it's something you could use. Where are you?
