Is it possible to disable (mute) the voice prompts?

I've updated my MKIV system to the latest software and map DVD ... but I'd like to be able to use the system without hearing the voice prompts, like I can on my Tom Tom 300.

Is that possible with the BMW system? I can't find a reference in the manual and all I've been able to do using the menus is turn her way down, but not off completely.

Thanks!

I only have experience with an MKII but if i don't want to hear her talk I move the right knob until the little speaker icon is highlighted and then hold the button down for a few seconds. When i do this the little icon of the speaker has a red cross over it and i have no more voice prompts. Only lasts for the ride though.

Good Luck.

That's a good start ... thanks!

Hard to believe you can't set that as a default ... but ...

Talking For X3 NAV Professional MK IV

Hi,

When navigating get the menu by pressing the knob, select "Instruction" with the knob, press and hold for 2 seconds (to mute - you'll get a speaker with a red slash). To have voice again get the same menu, select "Instruction" again and press again.
