Navigation - Cd player

Do they make the BMW widscreen (16:9) where the screen tilts down and a cd player lies behind it? All i have seen is casette, which is generally useless. If they make it, where is a good place to buy it, where is a good place to buy BMW nav anyways?

Would it be possible to mod the e46 cd version to fit in an '03 X5?

No. The construction differs, so the E46 navi does not fit into an X5. The connectors are the same (E46 and X5), so we tested it "in hand", it is very strange, because if you push the > button to jump to the next track on the CD, it will step continuously and won't play any track. I think in the X5 the control is designed for casette, therefore if you push >, the system makes f-fwd, and in case of a tape it is a continuous forward until you push the > button again. So the system is the second reason why you cannot have a CD player behind the 16:9 monitor in an X5.
