Nav Help

I just bought my wife a 2001 X5 3.0i with the Navigation. Only problem is that the only Nav disc in the car is the German disc. I believe that the unit has never been used. Two questions, how do I get a new disc and are there any updates that I have to do in order to get the disc to work? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Go into the Set or Settings screen, and advise the SW version number in the top right of the screen. Then we'll know what version you have and whether an update is worth while.

As for a map: what country do you want?

Help

Do I look for the version on the nav settings? Also, I would like the USA version of the discs. Preferrably the region 4 disc. Thanks for the help.

www.navteq.com is the company that makes the map disks for BMW, and you can buy direct from them. Also, lots of folks buy used disks on eBay and save a bunch of $$$. If you buy used, make sure you are getting an authentic copy, because often folks will sell a copy for the same price you can get a real disk, and the nav drives are sensitive to copies.
