Anyone else HATE the Alcohol 120% app?

I'd love to track down the originator and beat his inner child.

I hate the SW, the support sucks and there is absolutely no reason for anyone to support those assclowns!

Stay far far away from this POS app!

So does the slag that mashed this together buy you pints every day that ends with a Y?

Tell us why it is so flipping good if it can't burn at 1x nor have support that could hold a 90 yr old man's sack up. I am listening. It's Brit and it's also shit. There are some Deutsch bits that look a lot like they came from the eastern side of the Berlin wall......

No Wonder It's Called Alcohol!

The developers were pissed out of their tiny little minds and they thought that they could compete with real SW companies.

Yep, they suckered me in.......but I spread the word - never, ever pay them anything and don't plan on real support. It's seven shades of shit.

I own Alcohol 120%. I've had no major issues with the program or with Alcohol's tech support. Have you used their forum to resolve your issues? They have 2 tech support guys running the forum and they do a good job of answering and passing problems onto the developers.

I use CloneCD too. If one doesn't work on a game, usually the other will.

Agree, it sucks. There's no copy protection on the current software update or map DVDs*, so there's no technical reason for using the proprietary MDF format instead of the industry standard ISO (which every good burner supports).

This software is someone's favourite, and for some reason it's become so entrenched that many people now believe incorrectly that other burners such as Nero can't be used.

You might have noticed that I've re-posted the last few software updates in ISO format, but please folks, save us all the trouble and post any CD or DVD images in ISO format. That way everyone doesn't have to buy the same software as you...

* Alcohol is able to circumvent some copy protection mechanisms

I beg to differ. Alcohol 120 will burn the ISO image of the Siemens VDO BV original V28 upgrade onto CD-R every time.

Also, providing you use "Ultra ISO" to create an ISO image of WHATEVER BMW SatNav Map DVD you have, onto your HDD, Alcohol 120 will burn a perfectly readable image onto either DVD-R or DVD+R disks. I know because today I have done exactly that - & my living depends upon it
