Can i put a Nav monitor in my car without the NAV Module?

I wanted to put the Nav head unit in my ride, but i really didnt need the NAV. Can i just put the monitor head unit and use it for my radio, or do i need the Nav unit to go with it.

If i can do this without the Nav. What type of parts would i need to upgrade my X.

As far as I know the screen itself is dumb. You need either the navigation computer or the TV module to drive the screen. And the GPS or TV antenae if you want them operative. In fact you also need a new radio tuner as your new head unit doesn't include one. And all supporting brackets. And the harness .... It can be done, but I don't think it is worth the trouble just for the radio - you won't get a lot more information just because you got the big screen.

The nav monitor is just a dumb screen, much like a computer monitor and keyboard. It can not do anything just by itself. To enable the monitor, you would need either the nav computer or a TV module.

The bare minimum to perform this project would be the navigation/TV wiring harness, the trunk mounted radio module, and a TV module (and a few minor screws and brackets). You would have to run the harness and then splice it into your existing wiring. After that, plug in the new parts and presto, you have video.

I would be getting a Audio Video Module and probably be hooking up my laptop to it. I want to know if the screen on its own can be used as just a radio. I dont care about nav or tv. AV inputs will do. I just dont want to install an aftermarket unit and have it look all n. rigged.

What modules do i need to complete this. And where is the best place to buy?

Does anyone know if the Computer image will look good on the monitor. Im afraid that their might not be enough pixels to have it look good and have all the words readable.
