MkIII Update with V28 - MkIII doesn`t work now

HI,

I have a problem with a MkIII nav system.
I have insert the V28 firmware CD for the latest MkIII firmware.
The dispaly writes the message update CD insert, then gets the screen black. I waited for the update screen, but the screen was black.

Then, I turn off the ignition, wait a few minutes, turn on the iginition.
The screen work, but I have only the points radio and cd changer, no nav function is available.
The firmware cd is in the navsystem, I can`t get out the firmware cd.

What could be the problem?
Has I damaged the nav system?

Some V-28 image files around there burn as Mode1 CDs. That is not a problem for Mk-IV units, but it seems Mk-III units need Mode2 CDs or they will lock themselves.

You used a CD burnt as Mode1. Throw this CD away, and burn another, and ensure it is Mode2 BEFORe inserting into nav unit

Switch off ignition, unplug nav unit to disconnect from power.
Then plug back in, and keep pressing eject repeatably - can take a minute or so - the CD will be ejected.

Once the CD is out, use another Mode2 CD and the nav will load the OS OK.

No, no damage. You are a victim of an OS boot load bug that gets the nav system locked in an endless loop when trying to boot from a Mode1 CD.

Use a Mode2 CD for the Mk3, then you will have no problems.

Use Nero InfoTool to see what mode your OS CD is BEFORE you insert it into the nav unit.

HI,

thanks for your support!
But how could I burn the cd to mode1?
The firmware is an alcohol image, when I open this image with alcohl for burn I can`t use some option for mode 1 or mode 2.

I don't use Alcohol so don't know about Alcohol.

I use ImgBurn, which says if it is Mode1 or Mode2.

Normally you cannot change the mode, so if your image is correct, it should be a mode2 image.
If the mode2 image is being burnt as mode1, then blame your burning program. Get a better one !
