Backup SAT NAV DVD 2007
I have tried Verbatim + & - single layers, Ridisc -R, Datawrite Titanium -R I have backed up the image using DVD Decrypter and written it using IMGBurn (2.1.0.0) / Alcohol 120% slowest speeds. Is it the DVD dye that's the issue here ? |

I think you are correct that the seems to be a dye preference. I found Taiyo Yuden -R premium line works on the MK 4, when TDK and Memorex -R's would not work. Interestingly cheapo CompUSA 4x -R's also worked, but CompUSA doesn't carry the 4x anymore (I believe they were manufactured by Princo).

Appreciate the feedback, Ive been using the 16x verbatim but writing at 1x, tested them also in a 1 year old 530 and that could not read the disc either.
Will perhaps see if I can get some Sony / Maxell DVD+R for testing. Can anyone confirm whether the factory fitted DVD-Rom drives have a preference for + or - discs ? |

It's all very hit and miss I'm afraid. It depends on the disk/drive combo that you use.
For example, I use Verbatim 16x single layer -R disks, on one burner they only work if I burn at 4x, on another only at 1x and on a third only at 16x! |
