I didnt look at the #s but a 745Li Navi will not work in an x5 because the x5 is I-bus technology and the 745 is MOST-bus (fiber optic)

Thanks DT. That's what i was wondering. How about a nav off a 2005 750Li? will that one work? or is that same as 745?

I believe all MKIII are cd based - the MKIII doesn't have a DVD drive in it (only cd-rom) so it won't accept ANY dvd.

thank, I'm aware of the MKIII. I was actually wondering if the DVD Nav unit from the 2005 750Li would work in my 2001 X5.

yes, it wont work because it is MOST bus technology as well. you need to find something from e38 e39 generation. New E6.x generation will not work.
