The MKIII firmware has not changed since the V22 distribution disk. Therefore, you can download anything V22 or newer to get the latest OS for the MKIII. You can still get V26, V27x, and v28 from this link: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ng-system.html

Brian-bmw, from other posts on this forum which have had issues with getting the MKIII nav to work again, the postings explicitly stated using v23 or v24. v26 seem to cater to the DVD based MKIV. Thanks though. If there's anyone out there who has a copy of v23 or v24, I'll be willing to donate beer $$ for it!
Thanks! |

Just to clarify this point for others who may read this post, the V22 and higher OS distribution disks are exactly the same for the MKIII computer. If you took a car with a MKIII computer to a BMW dealer to do an update, the dealer would use either the V27.1 disk or the V28 disk (if they have V28) in the MKIII. Generally speaking, the dealer technicians would not use an earlier disk to update a MKIII. There have been some posts where people had problems with a MKIII update with a newer disk version; however that is far more likely the result of user error, since so many others have had perfect success doing a MKIII update with a V26 or higher disk.

Brian-bmw, thanks again for your insight. I'll give it a try when I get of work today. I plan to purchase a different type of CD-R even though the one I used previously was the Memorex black.

I could not find a link to a V23 disk image anywhere, but here is one for V22.1. This one should get your MKIII to OS Version 3-1/63, which is the latest available for the MKIII.

Beware people http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...available.html Is your memory letting you down or you are getting old and cranky?Anyway Thx for the input idiot Winkle but i tried the v29 and my system hang for 1 hr.Then i saved it installing v21 so I just want to try v23.
