I am pretty sure it will, although you will get the splash screen from the vehicle it was removed from displayed in the new vehicle.

Yes it works OK, Mine was factory brand new and ment for a mini and no OS was installed, I took a chance that they were the same.

I had to load a new OS on to it, it must have detected what car it was in and loaded the correct one.

The splash screen when booted was the standard one, ===BMW=== , not the mini one.

So you may need to reload a new OS.

Yes

I removed the Mk4 from the Mini and installed into my 2001 E46 Touring OK.

I use a custom splashscreen so dont get the Mini logo.

Just customize the splash to MINI logo and you will be fine. They use same OS and nav disks.

FWIW at this late stage, I bought a MkIV DVD unit off ebay. I met up with the bloke who arrived in a brand new Mini. The DVD unit had a label displaying a manufacture date of 12/06 on it.

When I plugged it in, the display did indeed show the Mini splash screen and a slightly different colour scheme (all green and grey, eurgh!). I let it run for a couple of minutes, then turned the ingition off, then on again. This time, the BMW splash screen appeared with the correct blue and grey colour scheme.

In short, yes, it will fit and function properly - it will recode itself to the type of vehicle its being installed into.
