Is there anyway to alter the split screen?

so that it shows the map and the radio information?

Nope. you can have radio + nav arros and instructions, or map + arrows and instructions, but not map & radio.

Well, not true. You just have to upgrade to a newer MOST-based car, like the 2007 X5. Then you can have it :-)

1. Select a map on the screen- either half or whole. 2. Turn the radio on. 3 find the button bottom right of the screen that says "Mode" on the left and has a picture of a radio on the right. 4. Press this button briefly ON THE RIGHT HAND HALF (ie rock it to the right) and the screen changes from radio/Tape/CD (as selected already) to the map!! Tap it again, and the screen returns to radio etc etc etc.

Yes.... I understand how to flip between modes. If you see all the crap that I've retrofitted to my X5, you can see that I know quite a bit about my X5 more so than most of the noobs on here. What I was asking was if you could have the "map" and radio functions on the other half of the screen simultaneosly. Instead of the road, elevation and gps info on the right and radio on the left, I would like map on the left and radio info on the right. I know this cant be done currently, I was just wondering if this was possible to do with nav coder, or by altering the nav system settings somewhere with software

Neither NAvCoder nor the BMW diagnostics software can change the display format of the Split Screen mode.

The way Split Screen works is built in to the operating software of the nav unit, and as far as I know cannot be changed.
