Radio navigation upgrade

Hello!
I have 330cd and radio navigation with MKIV Nav computer and I want to upgrade to 16:9 navigation. I've allready bought 16:9 boardmonitor with CD unit but as I read on some threads I will also need radio modul. Is this true, will I need new wiring as well?
Which radio modul should I buy?
Is there any non-original cheaper radio modul on the market.

MKIV part number: #65906942908-03
Navigation part number: #65.52-6 987 218

Thank you for your help.

You need the radio module (if in Europe: either Business RDS or Professional RDS). Only original BMW radio modules work, these sell for anything from 50 Euros to 300 Euros on ebay.de
There are old-gen (round pin) and new-gen (flat pin) radio modules, you need to have the matching wiring loom and radio nmodule, otherwise you cannot plug it in.

You also need the retro-fit wiring loom, as you car does not have the wiring for the video signals that go to the display, and does not have the wiring for the radio in the boot.

Look in the E46 navigation retro-fit instructions for the full circuit diagram.

Thank you for your answers. Is it important which radio module I buy? I heard that if you install radio module that is older than boardmonitor, it is possible that CD in boardmonitor won't be recognized. Can you please suggest me some radio module product numbers?

Just ensure that the manufacture date of the radio module is about the same, or newer, than the car.

There are far too many part numbers to list, and no-one knows all the numbers anyway.

If you have navigation, and you want to use a Professional RDS tuner, then get one with software version 8.0 or later
