Issues upgrading old mk IV system

Hi,

I recently bought a 2001 530i Euro spec (Australian) with _old_ OS in it.

I upgraded to v24 I think it is and got that working after creating a KeyCD etc.

Now I'm trying to upgrade to v28 and it comes up with a message that The system is already Up to Date ??? I get this message whether I try to upgrade or downgrade the version. Anyone have any clues ?

thanks,
Seedar.

If you needed to use the KeyCD then it is a MkIII, not a MkIV and V24 will take it to the most recent version for that drive (3-1/63)

Note that the MkIV wasn't available until 2003, so unless it was retrofitted it wouldn't be in a 2001 vehicle

Thanks - I thought MkIV was widescreen

And Mk III was the 4:3 screen. It is the widescreen version but with CD not DVD so that is MkIII then I guess.

thanks,
Seedar.

The MkIII works with both the 4:3 and 16:9 screen. BMW X5's produced from April 2001 through October 2002 had the 16:9 screen and MkIII nav drive. I assume this is similar for the 5 series as well.

Right you are

Thanks very much for the help - I was wondering why the scale would only go up to 100kms - I am used to the Mk IV in my X5

thanks,
Seedar.

Now I must hunt for a MkIV upgrade - maybe...
