E46 M3 retrofit sat nav install problem

Hi to you all
Im a newbie here and have a problem with my sat nav retrofit install.
I have installed everything into my car using these parts:
Mk4 dvd nav computer.
Bm54 radio module.
16:9 board monitor with tape player.
Upon connection of the battery and switching on the ignition the nav screen displays a message in white on a black screen saying :
"install software using a suitable cd-rom"
The screen never changes even when the radio is on which is annoying as cant tell what station im listening to.
I'm assuming that i need to install an operating system/firmware on the dvd nav computer as i suspect it is a brand new one (bought from ebay as a bmw mini drive with latest V29.1 installed on it) as it looks unused and in perfect condition.
If im assuming right can i just download V29.1 then burn it onto a CD then put it into the nav drive to install the operating software. Or do i need some other software to begin with.
