Navigation problems when using my iPod

I have just completed a long trip trying to use the navigation system (MK4) and my iPod through an tape adaptor. While on the trip after about 100 miles the navigation system locked up along with the entire entertainment system. After a few hours it would come back on for a few minutes and then stop again. After I stopped the iPod and removed the adaptor it took about another hour for the system to work again. But then I put the CD player on (6 CD Changer) and the system stopped working again. I have even tried using the iPod with iTrip and that locked up the navigation system as well. The system works fine if I only use the SatNav with no music. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what is causing this problem? I am using V-29 with DVD maps 2006-1, 2006-2 and 2007-1 all with the same problem.
Thanks
