Does the nav device have any software loaded?
If no OS is loaded it won't do anything.

What software is loaded?
Tell us the version - top right hand of the screen when in 'Set' (or 'Settings', depending on what language you have loaded)

Is the map disc the right version for the Mk3?
The Mk3 cannot read discs made for newer cars like the E90 with the MOST system

Is the map disc an original disc?
When the laser gets old/dirty, the Mk3 can struggle to read a copied disc, and it will eject it

Is the Mk3 actually spinning the disk?
Have a listen, you will hear the spindle motor turning when the disc is inserted if all is well.

ok so the mk3 accepts teh disc, i loaded v29 onto it and it was going well untill it said disc error please press ok to restart and the system restart itself, the only problem is the navunit mk3 only accepts the discs and has no red light on at all, on the screen where it is supposed to say navigation it has CODE.....what does this mean and can it be fixed..

thanks

CODE is normally the manual immobiliser PIN code function. The car may have gotton confused.

Try using the default code of 0000 to deactivate, if that doesn't work, disconnect car battery, wait 10 min, reconnect battery then the screen will show a 10min countdown timer.

If that doesn't work, post a photo of the screen with CODE on it so we can better recognise what you are seeing

ill post a pic of the screen later today, CODE is not able to be selected, it is where the nav menu is supposed to be.

One thing i do notice is the screen looks nothing like my mk4, ive seen various screen shots of mk3 units and the menu looks like my mk4 menu, is this correct.......
