Unhappy MK IV nav system won't update, help greatly needed

Ok so here's the deal. I have a 2004 X5 3.0i using the v23 OS for my DVD nav system. I want to update to a more recent Operating System and I'm not having any luck and getting very frustrated. I've done everything that has been said on other threads. I've even tried uploading the v26, v27 and v28 OS's but everytime i insert the CD that i've burned into the Nav dvd player it refuses to recognize that there is a CD in there. has this happened to anybody else?..... any tips or suggestions would greatly help.

by the way i used imgburn to burn the disk, so i don't think that was the problem. It's just not recognizing it as an OS disc

Welcome to the forum,

So you download the zip file,
unzip it to a dir on your pc,
open the .iso (or .mds) file with imgburn, (file, open)
insert a quality blank CD,
burn at x1 speed.

and this does not work? hmm...

Could be your PC cd/dvd burner is duff?

Or maybe the cd laser pickup is duff, you could try bunning the image to a dvd, that may work.

Talking !!!!!!THANK YOU VERY MUCH CCFJ1!!!!!!!

thanks ccfj1, I must have wrecked 10 cd's trying to burn it the first time. I would never have even thought of trying to burn it to a DVD, but guess what..... first time burned and it loaded in about 30 seconds. Such a noticeable difference to the 4 1-30. Okay now i'm gonna go looking for these secret menus i've heard about.
