Here's a pretty good list of MKIV part numbers. There are more, but this will get you started.

Thank you for your reply.

Are all MKIV dvd drives operating on both European and American X5 models or should I look at something particular for my European 2001 X5?

Thanx

They are all the same. They are configurable for region by dealer "coding," or you can use NavCoder. Also, for Euro cars, there was also a monochrome radio display navigation option. Do you have that? Either way, it is easiest to get a MKIV that matches what you have (color or monochrome), since dealers have a hard time coding that change. (The mono-or-color coding with NavCoder is very easy.)

Look for one with blue and maroon harnesses on the back - anything else is for I-Drive...

I have a 4:3 color display on a European 2001 X5 with a mk3. I am now buying a MK4 from an American ebay shop and I am wondering if it will be OK...
Do you perhaps know which map (High, Professional or Business) will be suitable for me?

You may need to re-code it to suit your language preferences (NavCoder and a Resler I-Bus interface needed or a trip to the dealer).

A Mk4 in an X3/X5 will be the HIGH DVD
