3 newbie nav questions + 1 about the board

Just picked up my '06 X5 4.4 which replaces my beloved '03 4.4 which was totaled. A few nav questions since I didn't have nav on my '03:

1. How do I tell, or can someone tell me which MK version I have?

2. How can I tell which firmware version I'm running, and does the NavTeq CD update firmware? Firmware-wise....if not, how would I update the firmware?

3. I've got the NavTeq 2006.2 CD. Any ideas when the 2008 CD might be shipping. According to my local BMW parts guy he thought the new CD might be out in a few weeks, but then....who knows?

4. On another subject, I've got a blinking message in the upper right hand corner of my browser window saying, in red, "new message waiting". How do I access that message or turn off the notification?

One person spoke with Navteq that said the 2008 disk is coming on Monday, 3/24. Another guy spoke with Navteq and got a non-conclusive answer that maybe April. I vote for any day now. It has been more than a year since the last release, which is longer than usual for Navteq.

You have a MKIV navigation computer.

Push the MENU button to go to the main menu, and select SETTINGS. The version of your firmware is in the upper right corner. Version 4-1/00 (10.0) is the latest version available for the MKIV. Go here to download the lastest firmware update: http://www.xoutpost.com/navigation-sy...available.html.
