CD Player in NAV retrofit not working?

Hi.

I'm working on doing a NAV retrofit on my 2003 e46 330xi.

I've put in the monitor and dvd drive and BM53 radio. The BM53 radio is the first edition so it's pretty old.

My problem is that the CD player behind the monitor either cannot read my discs or it cannot send audio out properly. Whenever I put in a CD it goes automatically to Track 1 and starts playing. What I hear though is a bunch of static and loud high-pitched noises. This is not my music... If I try to navigate to Track 2, it goes to it for a second and then goes to track 3, then track 5, etc etc it just keeps looping nonstop without staying on a certain track. Throughout the entire process, I never hear my actual music, just that high-pitched static.

Could it be that my BM53 is really old? Do I have a dead CD Player? Maybe I plugged something in wrong? I would like to mention that my CD changer works fine and the NAV audio works fine...
