TV / Professional Nav

Hi,

Apologies for what possibly appear to be simplistic questions - I'm new to this!

I recently took delivery of an X5 3sd M Sport - it has the professional SAT Nav & TV Option. It plays DVD's to the front screen from the loader in the glove compartment.

Am I right in thinking that Navcoder would allow me to enable TV and DVD in motion?

If so, are there any step by step instructions on how I actually 'update' the car once settings have been changed in Navcoder?

I also have the rear DVD option - would this be impacted in any way?

If I take the car in for a service will changing options be picked up by BMW or cause and issues?

Thanks
Nick

Its pretty much plug and play, plug the i-bus interface into the cd changer socket, run navcoder, go to the code tab, select TV, and tick the TV in motion box, the enable. thats it.

No, thats the nav computer and only accepts map discs.

I shouldn't think so, don't tell them.

Sounds like you have an E70 X5 (Nov 2006 to current)
NavCoder only works with the E53 X5 (1999-2006)

The E70 is a completely different beast to the E53, and does not have an ibus. Instead you have a fibre-optic databus in your car.
NavCoder cannot work for you, sorry.

Thanks Jochen & Ccfj1,

Yes, it's an E70 MY2008.

Damn that's a shame that I can't go the navcoder route.

Do I have any other options for enabling TV/DVD in motion?

Thanks
Nick

I have just gone through this issue with my 2008 E70 X5 too. Went and bought myself the resler USB interface and then went hunting for this 'plug' to connect to the interface. Pulled out the CDC in the glove box and found this plug. If only what I'd read mentioned somewhere before that Navcoder wont work on the E70!!

Thanks for the link.

I found a guy who comes recommended who can apparently resource and fit the appropriate kit for the E70. I don't have any details at the moment but will speak with him today.
