Help with GPS?

Hi, I have a problem with my MK IV satnav and was hoping someone had some clever advice about what to try next?

my satnav stopped tracking properly and currently has me somewhere in essex about 25 miles away! and there are no "Green dots" in the window in the top R corner

I updated the OS, and tried disconnecting the -ve battery lead without joy.

The service menu says

GPS status: Reception interf
and also ANT OPEN

But the GPS tracking screen shows 8 sats all with signal > 2 ???

Is this a broken antennae?? but why is it still picking up sats on the service screen??

I haven't taken anything apart yet, and was thinking about touching the +ve and -ve battery leads together and resetting the whole car! before pulling the satnav unit out and trying a different antenna?

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Cheers

David
