Simple ibus interface but with USB?

Is there any way to use this simple interface with an RS232 to USB adaptor, or to directly wire in a USB connector? My laptop doesn't have a DB9 connector port (that's progress!).

Thanks.

RS232 Com port

I tried several times to get the USB driver working with my scanner and had no luck. I purchased a pcmcia single port RS232 card for my Dell laptop and used that to interface to the scanner.I too have no Com port on the newer laptop. I have seen the USB connection work , but only with 1.4.o scanner software. I only have 1.3.6.

Works fine with RS232 to USB adaptor. Tested with HL-340 cable, bought from ebay.

With the current exchange rates, it's about $500 (j/k) so I thought it might be better to make one myself.

Not knowing anything about USB, it wasn't clear to me how the USB interface would be converted to the RS232 TX/RX interface, since the USB just seems to have D+ and D-.

Thanks for the help.
