I thing I killed a MKIII NAV OS upgrade - help
I need some help. I tried updating a friend's Nav thinking it was a MKIV but it turned out to be a MKIII ( 2002 X5 Sports). His Nav/TV is the 4:3 Version. He is on the version that needs a cdkey. here is what I did, I put in the V31 OS software and put the key in ignition position 1. I was not patient because I saw nothing showing on the screen, assumed the upgrade was not working (because the radio was just playing & nothing displayed on the screen) and decided to remove the disc Now, the Navigation Menu does not show up on the display. This he said this has happened before in the past (though he never upgraded ) but later started working again. So At the Moment, Navigation menu is not displayed and averything else works fine. when I put the Nav CD in the drive, it just sits there, nothing happening and sometimes U cant even eject the disc untill the car is off; Please What step should I follow to resolve these issues Thanks very much cooa99 |

You used a Mode1 disc
The V31 image floating around is a poor clone, it is Mode1, whereas the original disc is Mode2 Trying to update a Mk3 from a Mode1 disc crashes the Mk3 You need to use an older image (like V28, V29, V30). These have been cloned correctly as Mode2/Form1 The software version is the same for a Mk3: the Mk3 software is no longer in development, last version is 3-1/63, and 3-1/63 is available on every OS disc from V22 and later. ie: V22...V31 all contain 3-1/63. Burn using ImgBurn, it will stay as Mode2. Verify it post burn that the disc IS Mode2/Form1 then insert into Mk3, it should recover Sometimes though the Mk3 will crash and die, just cross your fingers and hope yours hasn't died. |

Cheers for the quick reply
OK steps is to look for a v29/30 on the forum , Burn using Imgburn is Mode2/Form1 Confirm Disk is burn Mode2./Form1 I presume steps in upgrade is the same i.e Turn Key to pos 1, replace NAV disc with new OS and wait >=6 min .... The OS on the car id V15 which apparently needs a KeyCD . I downloaded from keyCD Download Link on in the Nav section But only contains a bunch of images/files , but dont know what to do with it any clues on these Cheers css_jay99 |

V15 would mean your car has 3-1/10, which is very very very very old. To go to 3-1/63 you will need the key CD An image is an image, make a CD from the image using your favourite image burner, like ImgBurn |
