MK4.. V31 install issues

Hi, i tried to upgrade my 3.Od Sport 2003 MK4 Navigation system to v31 bought via ebay.. and now the navigation option no longer appears.

Sequence of events:
ignition to on, wait for nav to boot.
Ejected map cd.
Put os cd v31 into drive.
briefly saw software cd loading message.
then screen went totally blank. no progress indication ect.
left for a few mins anyhow as nav drive was making promising noises.
started car, new os appears to have installed.. but no navigation option appears from main menu.
put map disk back in drive.
Tried process a couple more times, swapping map with software disk.. again but it does not appear to attempt to reload the software.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! i loved my sat nav.

Thanks

Mark

I recommend that you burn a new disk (on high quality CD-R media at the slowest possible burning speed) and try loading the OS again. You likely had a corrupted disk.

Welcome to the forum,

I concur, I assume you have a mk4 dvd (as you have a 2003)?

Copy a v31 from this website and try as above.

If you hit problems pm me.

I also concurr, but I also suggest you check the disc quality after burning

So many people burn a disc and assume it is OK, they never check the quality...

I am a newbie to E53's but I just upgraded tonight and it was a piece of cake.

Used Imgburn and d/l the v31 from the link. At 1x speed.
Memorex CD-R
Did verify. All sectors good.
Opened driver door.
Opened hatch.
Ejected map DVD.
Turned to position 1.
Inserted CD-R
It loaded and rebooted great.
