I am not debating the fact that it is legal...and as a matter of fact I do abide by the law on a daily basis and don't commit crime/piracy. All I am saying is that for those people who do want to download it on the internet who are you to tell them repeatedly they can't. It is a free country and you are entitled to your opinion and your probably right about your opinion. But its a little over the top and no one wants to constantly read your repetitive responses. You shared your opinion there is no need to repeat it. It just clogs up the boards. I hardly feel bad for navteq when someone illegally downloads their map. I am sure they are doing ok with the $200 they charge for each dvd they sell that probably costs them $2 to make. The majority of people in the world are your average joes who will do anything to save a buck so give it a rest man. Thats all I'm saying. You're not going to change anything by preaching that piracy is illegal. Do us all a favor and pipe down.

Who do i have to be to encourage people to do the right thing? All I'm asking is that people be respectful of the sites policy.
"This is not a WAREZ forum nor a forum for the distribution or solicitation of NAV DVDs/CDs, etc. "

If it bothers "you" then don't respond. As far as I'm concerned people around here have been pounding the give it to me free drum a lot more than any repetitive responses i given about the matter.

I don't feel bad for them either. But what's right is right. Just because the company is making a substantial amount of money for their product is no reason to steal their product. I mean really... in your own words who are you to decide when it proper to steal someones property?

Saying that the average Joe will do anything to save a buck is no reason to uphold bad behavior. Your probably right i'm not going to change anything by preaching that piracy is illegal but i will continue to stand up for what is right. How about you?

Why don't you do us all a favor instead of asking me to pipe down about an issue that is clearly wrong why don't you take a stand and contribute to the betterment of the site and promote what the site requires regarding this matter. In that way we can continue to contribute to a better environment.

We get it, we get it ................ you are indeed the voice of reason and the morality police to boot
.
I see from your forum signature that you are 'Retired and loving it', I can't help thinking that you it should read more like 'retired and desperate to find enough things to fill my day'
.
Please sir, climb down off of your ivory tower and come to terms with the fact that sometimes that things happen that are (a) out of your control and, more importantly, (b) absolutley none of your business
.
You may think that your elevated ethics set you above the common slobs (ie the majority of the rest of us, myself included) but in fact all it does is highlight the fact that you are simply a control freak with a need to be heard

Apologies if you are in fact the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and are honestly trying to save us from damnation by the way!

I'm all for doing the right things and I'm not saying I've never downloaded anything illegally online, but $200 for a nav dvd is robbery. The fact that we pay so much for these fine vehicles should mean BMW gives us a free update every year, or at least while our cars are under warranty. I can afford the $200, I just refuse to pay it. Navteq should charge $50 max, they'd have a lot more buyers and a lot less piracy.

He's actually a gentleman and a senior member that deserves some respect. I find it funny that you don't have the nerve to post under your real screen name. Speak for yourself as far as most of us being common slobs.

Nothing more important than to know that a self described
slob like you get's it. Glad somebody's getting thru to you.
Now do us all a favor elevate your ethics and see if you can
at least obey the policy of the site. I'm sure an honest man
like yourself doesn't need Jesus Christ to convince him of that.

I am also retired and probably longer than you guys. This is all getting very tiresome and it would be nice if we could stick to technical topics here and take the arguing to some OT place!

Why aren't all these piracy-related threads deleted, plain & simple?!

BTW, does anyone know where I can find free tires for my car? I really don't wanna spend money on new tires all the time...

I'm sure if you knew someone who would have free tires for you, you would rush down there and get them.
