Nav Monitor Color Probs

Dear All,

I am running V31 and last week for no apparent reason my monitor color is now displaying wishy washy colors. The white area's are a shade of cream. I have downgraded to V30 and back to V31 and still no joy. The problem is also the same when playing a DVD or using the TV

Any idea's?

Many Thanks

You may have a bad connection on the 3 x video signals.

The monitor is driven by RGB (red, green and blue)

Have a look to see what colour is not being displayed correctly - normally it is easy to see.

Then check the wiring of that colour signal. It goes direct from the monitor to the video module (if TV is fitted) otherwise direct to the nav unit.

Check the blue connector on the nav, and on the video module (if fitted) are correctly seated. Unplug the connector and check the pins are bright, shiny and clean. Look for signs of corrosion (water damage).

If you have TV fitted, also check the white connector on the video module.

Most of the time the problem occurs in the boot/trunk, where water can get to the nav unit.

if all connectors are OK, then the next easy step is to put your nav into another car and compare the nav picture. If the nav pic is OK, then you have a monitor fault. Easiest repair is to exchange the monitor. You could try a 2nd hand one from ebay.

BMW don't do internal repairs on electronics, they just exchange it with a new one.
