Does a MarkIV Business Nav DVD drive work with a 16:9 screen?

Hello,

I'm looking at buying a Mark IV DVD drive from a car which had the business navigation head unit. The seller has upgraded to a 16:9 screen and states the DVD drive does not work with the 16:9 screen. Is this because it needs a firmware update or is the drive really incompatable?

Also would I be able to put it straight into a MINI with it coming out an e46 BMW?

Thanks!

You would need to re-code it for color navigation using a tool like NavCoder. It would work in a MINI, but it would have the BMW boot logo, unless you modify the OS to make it load the MINI logo.

Great. Is it critical that I put the correct VIN and car model into the program? Its for a friend's car and I'll be coding and testing it connected to my e46.

VIN is non-critical. You could enter his VIN while in your car, if you wanted to, but it does not affect behavior at all.
