MKIII E39 black screen 16:9
this is my first post on this forum. I'am French and i explain my problem. I have E39. In last year y update my navigation computer. Old computer are MKI with 4/3 display (color) with TV tuner (old version) and new system are MKIII with 16/9 display without TV (y unplugd TV modul). I purchase this new computer on Ebay, after installation, i upgrade software in lastest version and all works fine, but, GPS speaking English on German. AND display (small display in pannel with check control) are in English. In last month, i went to bmw dealer for inspection for my car, and i ask to change English speaking for French speaking with DIS. No problem for BMW dealer. BIG problem after, BMW break my MKIII computer, display are black screen. All works fine (radio CD) but display in black. I downgrad with v24, V21, V17, downgrad are ok (cd in mode 2), but display are black... I build interface for navcoder, Navcoder works fine (i plug it to CD charger) i see all parameters, and MKIII configuration, but display is black.... I test for me all possibility, i read a lot of post on this forum, i test unplug batterie and fuse, but, display is Black.... I deseperate to repair it.... If you have any solution.... Many thanks for your help.... |

Welcome to the forum,
The dealer has broken your MK3 drive, I doubt it is fixable they (the dealer) will need to replace it, the MK3 is very sensitive to power and reset reboots and I suspect that they powered down the mk3 incorrectly and its now dead. If you can replace with a MK4. You could have used the navcoder to change the language yourself BTW.

If NavCoder can still talk to the nav, then the nav is OK
It will likely be a faulty display. Easiest way to test is to swap the nav with another from a good car to confirm fault is the display. Also, check all fuses for the display, and make sure connectors are properly fitted. |

Can it be that you will have to plugin your tv-module again? I hat the same problem after i upgraded to mk lll, in some mysterious way my tv-module died during the install and upgrade of the nav!
