dvd unit not working with dvd but it works with cd... help

Hello, I need some info, I just upgraded from Mk3 drive to Mk4 drive. I waited for both units to power down completely before disconnecting it, after putting the MK4 unit on the x5 the monitor shows that the unit is connected but it tell me to insert a DVD while the DVD is already in there.... if I take out the DVD and put in a cd map it woks, any ideas as what could be going on?

Dvd laser dead. Change laser or the entire mechanism.

I agree. CD laser OK but DVD laser dead.
Change mechanism (easy) or laser (harder)

Do you know where I could get the laser from and how much does it cost?

Dvd & cd laser (black bottm) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=260226756850
Only dvd laser (white bottom) is ~50$

For changing laser you need: Torx8, torx6, very small philips screwdriver and soldering iron.

Chaing the whole mechanism is very easy, need only torx8. Takes about 5 minutes.
