Exclamation Problems with MKIII nav X5 e53 2001

Hello,

I Bought my x5 4,4i 2001 E53 2 days ago. Im realy glad with it, but the navigation didn't work i knew that before i bought it.

The option "GPS Navigation" is not in the menu on my 16:9 screen.

I've read alot on this page and i downloaded a new OS for the MK3. It just dont seem to work i did everything like it used to be. Burned in mode2 etc etc. When i insert the disc it just make some noice (like it read the cd) that keep coming back nothing happend in de menu on my screen.

What can i do to make my navigation? Is it realy broke? Should i check the laser?

Thnx!

PS, I used the search but nothing could help me with this!

Is there anyone near you that has a working Mk3 or Mk4? If so, try swapping units and see what happens.

Sounds like it has died. If reloading the OS doesn't cure it, then you are better to replace it with a Mk4. the Mk4 offers lots more possibilities and is much faster and better than the Mk3.

Or send the Mk3 to VDO in Wetzlar Germany for repair (the factory that makes them)

Offcourse i thought about swapping the mk3 with somebody else but i have nobody around me with that navigation.

The Power led is not burning though. Only the eject button gives a red light.

thanks for the quick reply!

Edwin, is in the Netherlands and may be able to help you. I think he is returning now from his trip to the US. He is on the e38 board at bimmerboard.com. Contact him.

Sounds like it's dead, no other lights come on except the little LED in the corner?

I had the same problem with an MK3 a few years ago.

Have battery problems lately?
