I've found a way how to implement it in Mk4 systems. Modified software will query map database for POI around car location with regular time intervals. If one or more POI of specified type found, system will emit voice message.
Arguments for and against:
I need to know it before writing POI converter. |

You enter POI data in Excell sheet - all info, lat/long, name, address, description, anything - in fields that you want, so you can make it searchable with a HTM search file. Then click a button an a POI file (IDX and ASC) is created in the right format |

1: Does this mean that you can have different POI icons for each POI type? 2: Can the voice file be different for each POI? 3: Do you need to use navspeak to add a modded voice file. 4: Will this effect the postcode search routing (AFAIK, when you only have a partial postcode, you get directied to the "city centre" bulls eye?). 2. I planned to use only one type, so only one voice message needed. 3. You can do it with NavSpeak for a while, but I'm thinking about all-in-one program to patch software, change icon, voice and manage POI. 4. Bulls eyes will be keept in the database, but will be invisible. |
