Question about NAV retro-fit
Meaning, I don't actually need the navigational system, but rather have the look, and the screen, which would be capable of portraying other goodies. So, if I want to retrofit NAV, but don't need the actual GPS system, could I simply retrofit the screen, and still be able to control my stock speakers? I was thinking of using something like iLink, as wuzin has integrated here. Sorry if what I'm saying is ridiculous, but thanks for any help in the right direction

You will need either the nav computer or a TV module to actually run the screen and interact with your car's other components (OBC, radio, telephone, etc.) So, you might as well do the full nav retrofit, even if you don't care about the nav function, because it will make the system complete.

Thanks Brian. Do you know if I need to buy a new radio module as well?

Yes, you will need the navigation "Board Monitor" radio. A retrofit consists of four main parts (in-dash display, radio module, nav or TV module, and the video wiring harness), and a collection of small brackets and screws.

OKAY Still planning for my retro-fit here and hit a bump..
while looking on real oem it seems that I already have the BMW BM53 Radio module Part number 65 12 6 988 276 Could I be wrong? It is a 2002 4.6is X5 with DSP; subwoofer & cd changer. I'm hoping that I can get away with only buying the widescreen & navigation computer. Why can't it be this easy!
