Display has gone very dull on my nav screen

Today hasn't been a good day.

I have recently upgraded to a nav 4 unit and have installed a digital TV module. For the last few weeks everything has gone very well.

Today for no reason the picture quality on my screen is done to about 25%. It’s practically impossible to read anything on the screen.

All the functions seem to work I just can't read them.

On the odd occasion it has flickered but switching the ignition off then back on has always fixed the issue. This time nothing.

I have tried disconnecting the battery. No change.
Disconnecting all of my mods and connecting the old units up and again no change.

Any ideas?

The backlight high-voltage circuit inside the LCD screen is failing - a common problem with older cars

There's a guy in Melbourne that fixes them - google for him

Do it ASAP - when it gets worse, it can sometimes catch on fire....

You were spot on. There were a couple of issues with my unit in the region you mentioned. Was repaired by Alpine for 10% of the cost of a replacement unit.

Thanks very much
