X5 '02 Keyless entry failed, Nav Screen Blank

Looking for folks who may have replaced or repaired the keyless entry system and Nv screen in the 2002 X5? I am a gear head but hesitate to guess at the best path to repair my car. The Dealer will not sell me Factory Repair manuals? I wonder why????

Keyless entry and nav are two separate systems

Check for blown fuses before you go any further

In particular:
F86 (5A) powers the remote control receiver

there are a multitude of fuses powering the central locking, so it won't be a blown fuse there - as if only one blew, other doors would still work.

As for nav screen: at night look for a light glow when ign is on. This indicates the backlight is working.
If no glow, likely failled screen. If glow but no picture, likely failled nav or TV tuner (if fitted)
also check for following:
does screen button illumination work? if so, it is connected and some electronics are working
Can you turn the radio on and change volume and stations? If so, screen keyboard and controller and databus connections are all OK.
