I have been meaning to ask you this, is there currently a way of having the navscreen turn of by the touch of a button? im thinking of either the clock button on the screen itself of the R/T on the steering wheel.

That function is implemented in the menu "Monitor Off"

To make any other button do any other function requires a hardware module (PIC) which you can program to do what you want. Requires electronics and software skills.
