German to English (v26)???

I just received my DVD nav computer which was loaded with v26. I hooked it up and it's in German. Can I change the language in the secret menu, can I do it by reflashing the firmware or do I have to have it recoded by the dealer???

I think you will find that you can currently select English as one of the language options, however it will be Brittish English, not American English (different accents and terms are used). The only way to change it is to have it recoded at the dealer.

how would one go about "reflashing" the firmware on the dvd NAV computer? i am getting my MKIV from a seller in lithuania, and i might have your same issue.

The menu items are still in German and there is a German woman voice. The computer is reading my US disc with roads spelled out in English.
I called two dealers. One had no idea and the other never recoded it but was willing to try for an hour labor. Darned!

UPDATE!! I've got Germany, Great Britain and France as language options. When I set the language to GB, it then set the country to USA. Everything is now working in English. Very happy.

One question. In the options, what is CODE?

On my 2005 X5, 'CODE' allows me to set a one time four-digit PIN number which prevents the engine being started unless the PIN number is also entered. The code only works once and I have to reset it every time I want to use the facility. A useful extra bit of security, but I don't know how secure it really is.
