My POS Nav can't read the disc..

A few months back the Nav started getting "stuck" and now it says it can not read the disc. Where do I get a disk? I am traveling and the j-off dealer won't let me borrow a disc (from a used car) to see if the unit is the issue.

How much is this going to cost? Anyone have this problem?

Laser was getting old and weak and has now died.

Replace laser (requires skills) or replace mechanism (easy) or replace entire nav (if you want to)

after driving around with a Garmin I want the clean look of my installed Nav. How do I learn about this laser replacement?

I think one of the guys did it and made a nice write-up about it. Do a search and you'll probably find it. Kiwi also posted the link to the mechanism.
