Dealer techs don't write the coding, it comes in software packages that are regularly updated from BMWNA. All they can do is hook the vehicle up to the SSS or newer SSSR/ISTA-P setup and tell it to code the individual parts or do a complete vehicle encoding.
I would also ask them to update the programming software in the MK4 and DSP amp in addition to re-encoding them to see if it helps. (no guarantee that it will work though, reusing old parts from a different application is always risky)
