2005-02/V.26 Problem, plz helP!

So I few weeks ago I recieved a "copy" of the 2005-02 NAV disc and loaded it up, worked great. I didnt use it for a while, but when I did it locked up, and reset the computer, screen went blank, came back to the accept screen. Well, this morning I wanted to see if it was still doing it so I went into "Map" it worked for about 20 seconds then froze, but this time it didnt reset, it just froze. I turned the ignition off, and then on and the same screen popped up, not even the accept screen. I then attempted to put my 2001 NAV disc in and the screen just stayed the same, Im totally bummed out. Can any1 help? Thanks

My suggestion would be to downgrade to V25 and then try re-upgrading to V26.

Keep in mind that if you do this you will lose the "Accept" screen and the units of measure will change from feet to yards.

That sucks, I didnt really want to do that. Actaully I dont even know if it will because when I put the 2001 NAV disc it it did nothing, the whole system is locked, so it probably wouldnt read the v25 disk. Is there any way of resetting the NAV's computer or sumthing?

You could try disconnecting the battery for a period of time to see if that does a reset.

Also, you really should try getting your hands on a newer disk. The 2005.2 North American DVD is the latest and greatest. If you have a 2001 disk then it's not even a DVD, it's a CD. While the CD should work, you really should use a DVD.

If he has a CD, that means he tried the upgrade on an MKIII. You're not supposed to do that .

Seems that V26 has some unusual effects on the Nav computer. Got my X off the boat in Rotterdam on Thursday, waited for the Nav to refind its location after being in California (6000 odd miles away) for a few months then loaded v26, well after loading the Nav system just sat there would not read the European Nav disk and would not lock up on the satellites, just kept seeing different ones, finally an hour later and 50 miles it just suddenly started working. Scared the crap out of the wife and I when it blurted out "please make a legal U turn".

Ahhh the fun of S/W upgrades.
