What NAV Screen have i got

I have an 2003 E46 M3 - It has sat nav and the software is version 4-2/00 - I know the 4 is Mk4 and i know the 00 is latest V31 software - but i notice most have a type 1 screen - mine is type 2 - what screen type is this and will it affwect functionality - i want full 7 character post codes but dont have it

You have a monochrome radio nav that gives arrow directions. Type 1 (4-1/00) is the color map nav.

Thanks for that. Any idea how i can get the 7 character post code search - i have the 5 character.

Can i also get TMC with monochrome

There is no official 7-digit postcode search. It was added as a 'fudge' and I believe uses the POI system, a bit like with the speed camera database. Not ideal and I haven't got it on my map dvd.

As for TMC, I assume you'd have that in the UK, but don't know how it is implemented in the mono (radio navigation) screen.

First off let's get the correct type of screen you have, which of these screens do you have mate

business

4:3

16:9

Trapdoor is correct, 7 digit postcode is not OEM, and is an add on (as a poi).

TMC AFAIK is not a function of the business nav

I'd be very surprised if you have the noddy nav in your m3...

I have the top screen in your pictures - the old monochrome one with a cassette player as well. But i do have MK4 DVD

That's a bit pants mate, do you have the blue and white plugs in the back of the radio? if so you maybe able to upgrade to a 4:3 or wide screen.

sorry for the ignorance but whats a POI menu - is this something i see on the mionochrome screen or on the disc in the MK4 player in the boot of the car
