MK IV Update failure, wont work..

Was going to code my MKIV from mono to colour, and was therefore asked to put a os disk in the navi computer, and 30 seconds after I had put it in, the cd came back out, and the whole update failed.. It froze on "loading cd" and I was after a while forced to take the + of the battery to be able to try to update..
But after this, my MKIV doesnt come up at the screen, and dont respond via IBUS.
I have tried with loads of software cds, but are unable to get any to work..

Please help?=)

Corrupt flash ram :-(

Try old V17 disc, different memory map, may cure it. Insert and wait for 15min before despairing.

Read the cd for about 1 1/2 - 2min, and then it stopped. The led is red, with occational flashes.

Got to send it away to get it fixed?

And also, since it is you answering me here, when trying to code away my error messages on the lights, I get this: only lcm with coding index <=30 is supported at the moment.

Am I not able to code my lights on my E46?

Thanks

Yep. When I figure out how Coding Index >30 is coded, I'll add it in.

Do you think it will be some time soon?

you are shure about that os cd?...was a working copy?...like tested image cd, use low speed on write, quality cd used...etc, sound like mk can't read the disc, try with another copy, use a tested image, quality cd, low speed for burning

Borrowed a v28 disc from bavaria today, but same thing happens.. The disc got some scratches though, but the same thing happened as when I used a burned disc.. ;(
They ordered a new v32 disc that will arrive next week, that will be my last shot then..

Where can I send it to get it fixed, without going through a BMW retailer? Guess its alot more expensive when going through them.. ;/

BMW don't repair "control units", they replace themwith new ones.

So BMW will tell you to fita replacement nav computer.

Only 2 x repair facilities that I know of:

1. Factory repair: VDO in Wetzlar Germany, they are the repair facility for VDO and have all the factory tools. They can do anything.

2. Autotronic in Melbourne Australia (on this board or on bimmerboard). He's a smart electronics tech that can reflash the nav for you.

Thank you! Do you know anything about prices? So it doesnt get more expensive than buying a new one at ebay, that would suck

No, but why don't you ask them?

Autotronic is a private guy, ask him first, he'll be likely cheaper than VDO.
