MKIII Memory problem

Hello eveyone !

I'm new to this forum, I don't own a X5, but this forum seems to be a very good place for every "modern" BMW owner

I've juste bought a 2002 BMW 320td compact (unknown in the US ?), originally equiped with a MKIII nav system. I've bought a "new" MK4 unit on ebay.de, but before installing this one, I'd like your help to solve a problem with my current MKIII one. Since a few month, it looks like there no more "memory"... I mean, eveytime the car is started, no more input in the adressbook, the navigation volume is low, etc... any idea? I precise that radio memorys are working, as well as every audio memories.

Thanks a lot for your help,

See you,

Thomas Olivaux

Hello

Tonight, I've tried to update the OS of my MKIII. Originally, I'm running 3-1/40. I'd like to have the last one, so I picked from this website the v26 CD witch is meaning 3-1/63 for my MKIII if I'm right.

After the CD creation, I putted the key on ignition pos. 1, after the Nav initialisation I ejected the map CD and tried the v26 CD... but it doesn't work My MKIII eject the CD, the screen saying that it's not a valid CD Any idea ? I'm currently downloading v22 witch is also 3-1/63...

Could it be a compatibility issue? I'm using brand new Verbatim CDRs...

Thx again,

Thomas Olivaux

I can attest to the memory faults- my MkIII wipes out the address book whenever I change CD's. Hopefully some of our more Nav knowledgeable members will chime in here.
