Neck on a hinge?

I have a after-market (AM) Nav system that I mount just below the rear view mirror. I like it there because I can adjust it, make changes, and look at it without taking my eyes from the road.

The OEM installed system looks like it sits very low and will force you to look down and take your eyes off the road to use it.

Are there any owners here who have owned both the OEM and the AM in the same vehicle?

What is your take on the difference?
