sat nav bmw e53 x5

hi all hope some one can help me
i've got a x5 e53 but my dvd drive isnt working all i get is the red light flash then remain lit when i try eject or load disc? any one else experience this is it dead or is there a fix ....????also getting a "code" appear on my screen when i press menu button ...?

Have you inserted a DVD? This drive only wants the GPS CD, not any DVD's...

Press & hold the eject button for 3 mins, then release and re-press it immediately...

Should do the trick!

Sounds like the drive has either crashed or you have updated the firmware.

There is a procedure for bypassing the code problem, is in the back of the nav manual.

Here you go

Emergency deactivation

1. Disconnect the battery and wait about 5 minutes before reconnecting it; refer to Owner's Manual for Vehicle

2. Turn the ignition key to position 1.
A ten-minute countdown appears on the screen.
After the ten minutes have elapsed, you can start the engine.

After this all will be as normal.

hi no joy when depressing button for three minutes just remains lit does this mean the drive is dead ??
help!!!!

Try locking the doors & leave the car for 15 mins, allow it to go to sleep. Then unlock, open boot, press & hold eject for 3 mins then release & immediately re-press. It worked for me, several times in fact!
