o0o.... SOB.... i bought the 389 no F*ing wonder i had such a damn hard time doing this crap. ECS tunning sent me that crap saying it was for my E53. and yea internal is exactly the same since it work sin my car lol. i had a funny feeling that the wire was a lil funny since the instructions said E46...with this wire the plug is white but the color wires go to the same slot as the AUX wire that u need. That why when i was installing the wire i thought it would replace the white plug since the AUX had a white plug. But eh i think 2 pictures of the Aux install isnt as good, i am gonna try to add more.

I already have the OEM ipod adapter mounted in the glovebox by BMW. I need a Line in in order to use my Droid. What do you guys suggest, should I go with the line-in adapter or is there another way? I'm guessing I can't have the Ipod Adapter and line-in adapter at the same time correct?

I have a question, is there any way to make this work on a X5 with a production date of 10/2001? Maybe get a radio from a newer X5? The only reason I'm wondering is because I have the old Business CD players from my old 2005 X5 so it would be an easy swap. Thanks in advance for the help.

AUX Retro Fit Kit

Hello,

I'm having the same issue as Elvis, I'm looking into adding the AUX retro fit kit, but my E53 is 03/2001 production date, so I can't seem to find a kit that will fit my E53, any suggestions?

I have found or heard of any other options, at this point I think I'm just going to changed out the Business CD players with an aftermarket double DIN stereo.

hey guys,

just tried to install my aux cable and now my mid won't work at all. I removed this as per the instructions and I couldn't see a cable behind it for the aux, so I disconnected the mid cable (mine was just one connector on the side for all the cables) to get more room in behind it.

after looking around in there for a bit there was not connector at all for aux. so I gave up and reinstalled the mid. to my surprise the mid would not work. when u turn the car on the radio works for about 1 minute where I can control volume and station from the steering wheel but that's it. then after a minute it just turns off.

can anyone help with a fix? do I need a new mid?

I have tried disconnecting the battery for a second but nothing worked. I have been told to try what was called a battery reset which was to disconnect the battery positive for an hour and a half. I haven't had time to do that yet and wanted to post here as well.

also any idea where I can find the aux input. I have a Australian E53 2005 business cd with cd stacker.

any help would be great.

thanks.

Thanks X5 Meister! I ordered the nav version 82 11 0 149 391 and installed it in the glove box. Best $38.92 (Amazon) I am ever spent.

Hey guys, I just created a DIY video on installing the kit in a 2005 X5 without navigation. Here's the link for those searching in the future, hope it helps:
