Well... on the NG radios there is, but the coding in the radio is simply the same features that you can change in the service mode.

I have been analyzing it recently for possible adding into NavCoder

I've found AREA and GAL so far.
I may also find TP volume...

Maybe there are also some car-key-memory functions in there too.

Inspite almost everyone in this thread answered that no coding required my answer is opposite - i read it somewhere in TIS - in some combination the coding is required.

Why it recognized by navcoder - I don't know, try to ask dealers to code it, probably navcoder soft not so fresh enough.

PS: I think Radio service menu won't help. Change region will affect fahrenheits/celciums and miles/km only

Only to set the AREA, and you can do that from hand.

NavCoder _is_ "fresh" enough

I have analysed the coding data in the new-generation radios and to date only seen the same items that you can set in the service menu.

NavCoder question

Apart from the radio functions mentionned in this thread above, is there anything related to the DSP amp or the CD Changer in NavCoder? My problem is this.

- X5 (e53) 2006
- BM53 Radio with digital DSP (called premium sound package)
- Not Nav
- Bluetooth Module
- Dice Unit (iPhone / iPod interface for music)
- Dice DSP converter

I have the Dice unit, the iPod and everything are plugged as it should. Everything works except that I get no sound. I can navigate my music list from the Radio, which means that on the control side, everything works. I have check that the music gets properly converted to digital and enters the DSP amplifier. It's as if the DSP input is not activated.

I read somewhere in the BMW doc that some kind of recoding of the DSP do exist and have to be executed when installing the Nav Kit. I wonder what that such recoding does to the DSP.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks.

I believe the you need a DSP version of DICE, something about a digital audio connection. Contact DICE.

You do not need the Dice Analog-to-Digital converter with the BM53 radio.

One of the major differences with the BM53 radio is that it no longer activates/uses the direct digital audio input on the DSP amp. Instead, it uses the analog audio path that passes through the radio module. (One of the reasons for this is that the BM53 is Sirius-ready, and the Sirius module does not have a digital audio output.)

So, disconnect the D/A converter and connect the Dice module to the 6-pin analog audio plug that was originally connected to your CD changer.

I tried already both ways, I tried with the 6 pins (the analog way), I tried with the coax (the digital DSP way), I tried everything. My problem is in the car, not in the Dice devices.

I need to recode the Radio or the Amp somehow.

There is nothing to code in the radio regarding the inputs. The options simply do not exist to be altered.

The analogue aux in is achieved by the BM53 detecting the impedance of the "headphone socket"/audio ouput of the aux device (DICE) and enabling the Aux input option from the MODE button.

Your comment is interesting about the aux input, but the Dice harness uses the other input port, the "white" plug, which is used normally by the cd changer. May be I should try with the aux input to see if I can get some sound this way.
